Conor McGregor details why he sends an armed guard with his son to school
After a recent mass shooting in the United States, Conor McGregor said that he now sends an armed guard with his children to school. After concluding filming on The Ultimate Fighter in Las Vegas, the Irishman jetted down to Orlando, Florida to spend time with his family: fiancee Dee Devlin and their three children. But, after learning that seven people were killed in a shooting in Nashville’s Green Hills, McGregor is eager to adopt further safety measures.
The renowned former two-weight world champion praised the American ‘Amber Alert’ system, which alerts people in the region of possible child abductions, in a now-deleted tweet. It was also confirmed that he had been sending armed guards with his children to school long before the tragedy in Tennessee.
According to a report by Mirror UK, the Irishman wrote:
“Just got an ‘Amber alert’ to my phone while here in Orlando. A smart and quick set up that alerts everyone there is a child missing and with full description and detail also. Very smart. I would like to see armed protection at each school also. I have had my children at school here while stateside and have had my own armed guard present at the school.”
“This was prior to the most recent school shooting also. If she shot her way in to that school from the outside, my guard, who is tucked away, armed and unseen, would have seen her and taken her down. Saving those children’s lives. May God and his best people on this earth protect our children!”
Conor McGregor pours admiration on Donald Cerrone upon his induction into the UFC Hall of Fame
Conor McGregor has been very effusive in his admiration of Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, a former opponent of his who was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame for his accomplishments.
In what was meant to be the beginning of his octagonal comeback in January 2020, the Irishman battled Cerrone and knocked out the renowned American in under a minute. McGregor didn’t engage in his usual trash-talking before his fight with his longtime opponent, but he did bring the heat in the cage and quickly stopped the fight.
In fact, McGregor was effusive in his praise of his former opponent in a video package that also featured Michael Bisping, Joe Rogan, and Daniel Cormier. Last night’s UFC event in San Antonio featured the video tribute, and Cerrone was there to see it played in front of a sold-out crowd.
During a filmed interview, McGregor exclaimed:
“He’s stepped up many a time. He’s taken short notice, he’s never pulled out. He’s gone through the divisions also up and down.”
