Adrian Mannarino

France completed a 5-0 whitewash of Argentina in their opening clash at the United Cup. Adrian Mannarino was one of the cornerstones of the effort as he eased past Federico Coria in straight sets 6-1, 6-0. The tennis world was in awe of a spectacular tweener that the Frenchman managed to pull off and it deservingly won him the point. That shot has been watched and re-watched by fans as many are calling it an early contender for the shot of the year.

The 34-year-old will hope to carry on with the good form he showed against Coria. Currently ranked 46 in the ATP rankings, Mannarino won his second ATP title and first in 2022 at the Winston-Salem Open. He also became the French No. 1 with some fine results throughout the year.

Borna Gojo

The 24-year-old is going to have his task cut out against an upbeat Mannarino. However, he wouldn’t be under too much pressure as not many are expecting the world No. 144 to pick up the win. This could help Gojo express himself on the court.

In 2022, Gojo managed to win his first match at a Grand Slam by defeating lucky loser Alessandro Giannessi in the first round of the French Open. Gojo also won his maiden Challenger title in Ortisei in October.

Head-to-Head and Prediction

The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 0-0 as the two players have never crossed paths as yet.

Prediction: Adrian Mannarino to win in three sets.
