Argentina’s Nadia Podoroska will have her task cut out when she faces world No. 4, Caroline Garcia, in the group stage of the United Cup on Friday.

The Frenchwoman had her best season on the tour in 2022. She won 4 singles titles in the year and 3 of them came in the latter half of 2022. Out of the total 65 matches she played on the tour, Garcia managed to win 45 and lost just 20.

She also produced her best result at a Grand Slam by reaching the semifinals of the US Open. The 29-year-old also won her second doubles Grand Slam title by winning the doubles event at the French Open alongside Kristina Mladenovic. It will be interesting to see if Garcia can continue her rich vein of form in 2023 as well. She recently took part in the first-ever World Tennis League tournament in Dubai. The experienced campaigner did not have a great campaign as she lost to Iga Swiatek and Elena Rybakina in straight sets. Her only win came against Paula Badosa.

Nadia Podoroska

The 25-year-old is currently ranked 195 in the world. She played 35 matches on the tour in 2022. Out of those matches, she won 21 and lost 14. Podoroska returned to action at the Wimbledon qualifiers after ten months of inactivity. She was ousted in the second round of qualifying.

Her last tournament in 2022 was the WTA 125 event in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She lost to the second seed, Danka Koviniv, in straight sets in the round of 16. Her best result in 2022 came at the Chennai Open, where she made it to the semis, but eventually lost to Linda Fruhvirtova.
