Polish youngster Daniel Michalski locks horns with Switzerland’s Marc-Andrea Husler in the group stage of the 2023 United Cup.
The 22-year-old is currently placed at No. 260 in the ATP rankings. He did not have a great start to the season as he faced defeat against Kazakhstan’s Timofey Skatov in straight sets 7-6 (9-7), 6-2. In the second set, Michalski looked all at sea and he will have very little time to correct his errors before facing a tough off like Marc-Andrea Huesler.
Michalski represented Poland at the Davis Cup and has a 1-0 record. He reached a career-high ranking of world No. 243 on July 25, 2022.
The 26-year-old is the current No. 1 Swiss player. He won his maiden ATP title in 2022 when he defeated Holger Rune in the finals of the Sofia Open. Huesler also made his Masters 1000 debut in 2022 at the Paris Masters. He entered the main draw after beating Hugo Gaston and Laslo Djere in the qualifiers. In the first round, he shocked Jannik Sinner to progress further. His run eventually ended with a loss to Karen Khachanov in the second round.
The world No. 56 began the new season with a come-from-behind win against Timofey Skatov. The match ended with the scoreline at 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 in favor of Huesler.
The head-to-head scoreline between Marc-Andrea Huesler and Daniel Michalski currently stands at 0-0 as the two players have never crossed paths as yet.
Prediction: Marc-Andrea Huesler to win in straight sets.
