Experienced Polish player Magda Linette faces Swiss youngster Jil Teichmann in the group stage of the 2023 United Cup.

The 30-year-old had some nice results in 2022. She reached the quarterfinals of the Charleston Open with an upset win over Leylah Fernandez. She eventually lost to Kaia Kanepi. In the doubles event, Linette won her first doubles title alongside Andreja Klepac. Linette also produced a huge upset at the French Open as she defeated Ons Jabeur in the first round. The experienced campaigner won another doubles title at Eastbourne International, and this time she teamed with Aleksandra Krunic.
Linette also reached the finals of the WTA 250 event – the Chennai Open. However, she lost to 17-year-old Brenda Fruhvirtova, in three sets. World No. 48 managed to win 40 matches during the year while having lost 29.
Jil Teichmann
The 25-year-old had a fine campaign in the Madrid Open. She defeated big names like Petra Kvitova, Leylah Fernandez, Elena Rybakina, and Anhelina Kalinina to reach her third WTA 1000 semifinal. At the French Open, Teichmann produced her best result at a Grand Slam by making it to the quarterfinals.
In 2022, Teichmann went on to win 25 matches but she also lost 24. She finished the year at No. 35 in the WTA rankings.
