World No. 4 Stefanos Tsitsipas gets his season underway against Bulgarian veteran Grigor Dimitrov in the first-ever edition of the United Cup.
Stefanos Tsitsipas
The Greek star will hope to start the season on a positive note. In 2022, Tsitsipas promised a lot but fell short at crucial junctures. He won a couple of titles in the year.
In total, he won 61 matches and lost 24. The two titles that Tsitsipas won came at the Monte-Carlo Masters and the Mallorca Open. His season came to an end with a group-stage exit at the ATP Finals in Turin. Tsitsipas lost to Novak Djokovic and Andrey Rublev in the competition but picked up a fighting win against Daniil Medvedev.
Grigor Dimitrov
The 31-year-old recently got some game time under his belt at the inaugural World Tennis League in Saudi Arabia. He mainly played mixed doubles matches in the 4-team tournament but he replaced Novak Djokovic in a match against Nick Kyrgios and stunned the Australian star to win the clash in straight sets.
Dimitrov did not have a great season in 2022 as he finished with 26 wins and 22 losses. He will hope to better his performances this season.
Head-to-Head and Prediction
The head-to-head scoreline currently stands comfortably in favor of Stefanos Tsitsipas at 5-1. Their most recent collision was at the Italian Open earlier this year. Fourth-seeded Tsitsipas won the match in three sets 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 in the round of 32.
Prediction: Stefanos Tsitsipas to win in straight sets.
