Deiveson Figueiredo was set to fight Joseph Benavidez at UFC Fight Night 169 for the Flyweight title

UFC Fight Night 169 sees Deiveson Figueiredo take on Joseph Benavidez for the vacant Flyweight title.

This was expected to be a great match between two quality fighters, but only one of them can win the title.

Benavidez came under the 125-pound weight limit but Figueiredo weighed over 127 pounds. That meant that the God of War could not win the title, even if he won the match.

Only the veteran Benavidez could win the title, but the fight between the two will still go on.

Fans angered and confused about weigh-in

It is a little shocking that a UFC fighter cannot keep his weight in check ahead of a fight.

Most stars have a huge team working around the clock to keep them in the right shape. It is criminal that Figueiredo couldn’t keep his weight in check.

Many fans were upset over the news while some smelled a conspiracy. Many fighters have jumped divisions by either bulking up or reducing their weight, however, it would be crazy for Figueiredo to do this and miss out on his first UFC title.

However, this is a great chance for Benavidez to get the vacant belt. The 35-year-old has fought for the gold twice in the past, but was never able to pick up the title.

Benavidez has been in decent form coming into the fight but Figueiredo had only lost one clash in his MMA career.

It will be interesting to see how the clash goes as Benavidez is the only one who can pick up the Flyweight title.
