What is the breakdown of the prize money per round at the 2021 US Open?
The US Open last year did not allow fans and was held behind closed doors in New York. US Open is the last of the four Grand Slams in the year and is hosted at Flushing Meadows. It is also home to the biggest stadium in tennis, the Arthur Ashe stadium.
This year around, however, fans will make their way to the tournament after a dip in COVID-19 cases. The US Open tennis tournament will allow 100% spectator capacity throughout its entire two weeks in 2021. The US Tennis Association announced that all tickets for courts and grounds passes were on sale in July.
Dominic Thiem is the defending champion, having won a stunning final against Alexander Zverev in 2020. US Open will begin on Monday, August 30 and will go on till Sunday, September 12.
The US Open singles champion in the men’s and women’s event collected $3.85 million each in 2019. This was the biggest prize money in the tournament’s history. The winner receives $3.85 million.
Making the round of 32 earns a player $163,000, while making the round of 64 is $100,000. Players receive anywhere from $11,000-$32,000 prior to entering the main draw.
