The American duo of Taylor Townsend and Caty McNally take on compatriot Caroline Dolehide and Australia’s Storm Sanders at the Louis Armstrong Stadium in the US Open women’s doubles semifinal on Friday.

The impressive duo managed to put the Cincinnati Masters debacle behind them and came out all guns blazing at the US Open.
They started with a bang as they bageled the team of Lucia Bronzetti and Camila Osorio in straight sets in the first round. In the second round, they defeated the American duo of Sophie Chang and Angela Kulikov in a closely-contested three-set affair.
The Chinese duo of Xu Yifan and Yang Zhaoxuan failed to put up stiff resistance against Dolehide and Sanders, losing the match 2-6, 3-6. In the quarterfinal, Sanders and Dolehide made light work of an in-form Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic.

Like Dolehide and Sanders, Townsend and McNally were also ousted in the first round at the Cincinnati Masters but that wasn’t able to stop the Americans from impressing at Flushing Meadows.
In the first round, McNally and Townsend defeated Nuria Parrizas-Diaz and Arantxa Rus in straight sets 6-4, 6-4. In round two, they got the better of Erin Routliffe and Alicja Rosolska in three sets in what was their longest match so far.
The round of 16 match against Bernarda Pera and Dalma Galfi turned out to be a one-sided affair as the American duo won 6-4. 6-4. In the quarterfinals, Townsend and McNally played some scintillating tennis to make light work of Demi Schuurs and Desirae Krawczyk, winning the match 6-3, 6-1.
