David Goffin takes on Lorenzo Musetti in what could be an interesting contest in the first round of the US Open.

The Italian tennis pro is seeded 26th in the tournament. He stunned Carlos Alcaraz in the finals of the Hamburg European Open and won his only title in 2022. He also made it to the round of 16 at the Croatian Open before losing to Marco Cecchinato.
At the recently concluded Winston-Salem Open, Musetti lost in the round of 32 against Richard Gasquet. Last year at the US Open, the youngster made it to the second round before losing to Reilly Opelka in straight sets.
David Goffin
The Belgian tennis pro has also won a title this year. It came at the Grand Prix Hassan II where he defeated Alex Molcan in the final. He reached the quarterfinals in Sydney and also at Wimbledon.
The 31-year-old is coming to the US Open on the back of forgettable campaigns in the Citi Open, Canadian Open, Cincinnati Masters, and Winston-Salem Open. He couldn’t progress to the second round of the main draw in any of the four competitions.

The 20-year-old Lorenzo Musetti leads 1-0 in the head-to-head against David Goffin. The youngster defeated Goffin in straight sets in the first round of last year’s French Open.
