The World No. 5 Ons Jabeur takes on a rejuvenated Caroline Garcia in the semifinals of the US Open.
The 28-year-old Ons Jabeur reached the Wimbledon final before being stunned by Elena Rybakina. The Tunisian star suffered a few setbacks in the tournaments that followed. However, she is back to her best at the US Open.
She began with a couple of comprehensive wins against Madison Brengle and Elizabeth Mandlik in the first and second rounds respectively. In the third round, she lost the first set to Shelby Rogers but came back to win the second and third to progress into the fourth round. Veronika Kudermetova faced Jabeur in the fourth round and lost in straight sets. A win against an upbeat Ajla Tomljanovic in straight sets helped the Jabeur reach her first US Open semifinal.
The 28-year-old has recently played like a woman possessed. She has been in sublime form and finds herself in her first Grand Slam semifinal.
Garcia is yet to drop a set in the five matches she has played so far in the competition. The World No. 17 defeated Kamilla Rakhimova comprehensively to begin her campaign. She followed it up with a dominating win against Anna Kalinskaya. In the third round, she made light work of 2019 US Open champion Bianca Andreescu. The rampaging Garcia defeated Alison Riske-Amritraj and Coco Gauff in the next two matches to set up a date with Ons Jabeur.
Caroline Garcia has lost both her matches against Ons Jabeur. The former World No. 2 leads 2-0.
Prediction: Caroline Garcia to win in three sets.
