The World No. 5 Ons Jabeur will be facing a confident Veronika Kudermetova in the round of 16 of the US Open competition on Sunday.

The Tunisian tennis pro has been having a tremendously successful season so far. She has won two titles this year at the Madrid Open and the German Open. The 28-year-old also made it to her first Grand Slam final at Wimbledon on the back of some dominating performances throughout the tournament. She lost the final against Elena Rybakina but her exemplary tennis earned a lot of praise.
At the US Open, Jabeur started off with a relatively easy win against Madison Brengle in the first round. She followed it up with another impressive performance against Elizabeth Mandlik in the second round. She met her third consecutive American opponent in the competition in the third round and it was the 29-year-old Shelby Rogers. Jabeur dropped a set for the first time in the competition in this match but eventually won 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Veronika Kudermetova
The World No. 18 has won 29 matches and lost 16 in 2022. She reached the finals at the Melbourne Summer Set, Dubai Tennis Championships, and the Istanbul Open but couldn’t overcome the final hurdle.
The 25-year-old has won all three of her matches at this year’s US Open in straight sets. She began with a win against Donna Vekic in the first round. Kudermetova got the better of Maryna Zanevska and Dalma Galfi in the second and third rounds respectively.
