US Open 2022: Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury vs Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski – Men’s doubles final: Preview, Head-to-Head, and Prediction

Defending champions Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury take on the team of Wesley Koolhok and Neal Skupski in the US Open men’s doubles final.

The top-seeded American-British pair began their campaign with a relatively easy win against Cristian Rodriguez and Federico Coria 6-4, 6-4. In the second round, the duo made light work of Luke Saville and Aslan Karatsev. Ram and Salisbury took on the Italian duo of Simone Bolelli and Fabio Fognini in the round of 16 and defeated blew them away in the first set. The second set was much more closely-contested though. Eventually, Ram and Salisbury got the win 6-1, 7-5.

Jan Zielinski and Hugo Nys became the first duo to win a set against Ram and Salisbury in this year’s US Open. They won the second set but lost the first and third, as the experienced team progressed to the semifinal. In the semifinals, the Colombian duo of Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah played impressively but eventually lost 5-7, 6-4, 6-7 (6-10).

The Dutch-British pair defeated home favorites Steve Johnson and Sam Querrey in the first round 6-4, 7-6 (7-5). Koolhof and Skupski won their second match against another American duo – Nathaniel Lammons and Jackson Withrow 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4. In the round of 16, they defeated Max Purcell and Matthew Ebden from Australia. in three sets 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 6-3.

Koohlof and Skupski won their quarterfinal and semifinal match in straight sets. Against Marcelo Demoliner and Joao Sousa, Koohlhof and Skupski got the win 6-3, 6-1. In the semifinal, they defeated Jean-Julien Rojer and Marcelo Arevalo 6-4, 7-5 to reach another final at Flushing Meadows.
