After a lot of issues and delays that plagued the North American Last Chance Qualifiers, we finally have all the 16 teams that will be competing in the Valorant Champions Tour 2021. The NA LCQ was a rollercoaster ride. The event had various server issues, sound issues, and of course Covid issues that caused the major delay in the event. Cloud9, who placed 8th on the circuit points standing board pulled a miracle and qualified for the Valorant Champions. They defeated Version1, Gen.G, XSET, and favorites 100 Thieves, before sweeping Rise 3-0 in the finals.
This will be the biggest event in competitive Valorant so far. Riot had first announced its plans to establish a competitive scene back in November 2020. After all the ups and downs during the year, the final 16 teams are here. The 16 teams that will be competing for the title are
Valorant Champions is organized by Riot Games and will be held in the same venue as the Valorant Masters Berlin. Riot has not announced the complete prize pool for the event. The tournament will start on December 1 and the Champions will be crowned on December 12. It will be a completely LAN based event. According to sources, Riot will follow the same pattern of group based matches as they did for the Valorant Masters Berlin. The top 8 teams will then compete for the Champions title. With that said, here are our picks for the top 5 teams to win Valorant Champions 2021.
Sentinels were the best team in the world as they had a perfect run at the Valorant Masters Iceland. They did not lose a single map there. Their trouble started when they faced El Diablo at Valoran Masters Berlin. They struggled against NV and G2 which essentially knocked them out of the competition. But they still can be a dangerous team and thus are our top contenders for the Champions title.
Gambit Esports won the Valorant Masters Berlin and dethroned the champions, Sentinels. Their star performer was Nats, a Russian Valorant player who is known for his stone-cold demeanor. Nothing seems to faze him and he can keep his cool even in most grim situations. The Gambit players have insane mechanical skill and team synergy. If the ‘Scrim demons’ return with the same confidence, they can easily win the Champions title
Envy showed incredible performance at the Valorant Masters Berlin qualifiers just a week after acquiring El Diablo, Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker. With more time to practice, they came in second at the Valorant Masters Berlin. They even defeated the NA champions Sentinels. With some international LAN experience under their belt, NV can finally earn that Champions title.
Ascend is known for their star player, the Turkish best, cNed. He single handedly can change the course of a round. The best example of this is given by nitr0 from 100 Thieves after they narrowly defeated them. He said that their main strategy was to avoid cNed. If a player can cause such an effect on a veteran of CSGO and now Valorant, we certainly hope that they can be the Valorant Champions.
Vision Strikers is the strongest team from the APAC region. They are known for their longest undefeated streak in Valorant. They have some of the most skilled players with absolutely insane team comms and synergy. At the Valorant Masters Berlin, they were defeated by Gambit Esports, destroying their hopes of winning. But they still are one of the strongest teams in Valorant and have the potential to win Valorant Champions 2021.
The Valorant competitive scene has gotten extremely exciting as approach the final event of the year. These were our top 5 Valorant teams of 2021 that have the potential to win Valorant Champions. We are eagerly waiting for the greatest event in Valorant history.
