Rangers must sign Liverpool’s Ryan Kent on a permanent basis
As per reports from The Scottish Sun, on-loan Liverpool starlet Ryan Kent is considering making his temporary move to Rangers a permanent one.
Speaking of the possibility of a permanent transfer to the Ibrox, Kent said (h/t The Scottish Sun):
“It’s something I’d consider. The fans are great here.
“Rangers are an amazing club, but that’s a conversation they need to have with Liverpool, not me.”
The highly-rated winger was recruited by Gers manager Steven Gerrard in the summer, having observed him from close quarters during his time at Liverpool.
Having initially found himself behind fellow summer arrival Jamie Murphy at the beginning of the season, the 21-year-old has stepped up since the injury to the former Brighton & Hove Albion man and has come into his own.
The Liverpool starlet has notched up 16 appearances across all competitions for the Glasgow outfit, scoring two goals and setting up one more.
The Englishman was one of Rangers’ most impressive players, as they came back from behind to beat Rapid Vienna 3-1 in their second UEFA Europa League group game.
Kent continued to impress for the Gers, opening the scoring just three minutes into the game, as they romped home to a 3-1 victory over Scottish Premiership leaders Heart of Midlothian FC last weekend.
The 21-year-old has been utilized on either wing by the manager and he has impressed. The Englishman is also capable of playing as an auxiliary striker and has been used in the No.10 role at various stages in his career as well, highlighting his versatility and flexibility.
However, the confidence with which he runs at defenders has undoubtedly stood out amongst all the other aspects of his game. His ability to dribble past defenders at pace and create chances for his teammates, either by staying wide and hitting crosses or by cutting inside, makes him a huge threat for the opposition. Add to that his keen eye for the goal and Rangers have an exceptionally talented attacker at their disposal.
In his short time at the club, Kent has managed to establish himself as a firm fan favourite at the Ibrox, thanks to his exciting displays in the final third of the pitch. And given that he is only 21 years of age, he is bound to get better and better from here on.
Given the initial promise and potential he has shown in his fledgeling career, he is clearly headed for greater heights. And if there is a chance of turning his loan move into a permanent one, Rangers must do everything in their powers to make that happen.
