Tyson Fury recently defeated Deontay Wilder to become the WBC heavyweight champion in a gruelling bout
Former MMA star Chael Sonnen brought up the topic of Tyson Fury retiring in his latest Bad Guy Inc show.
Fury beat Deontay Wilder in an epic bout but his father, John, recently claimed that his son could retire.
Sonnen went on to say that John seemed like a worker but also understood where the former boxer was coming from.
The former MMA star claimed that Fury was in a great place, had done everything that he needed to do.
The only way would be down for Fury, and the WBC champion also had his health with him, something that most experienced fighters don’t:
“Look he’s done this five times, he’s proven everything, that could possibly be proven and he made his money, by the way, he’s one of lucky ones.”
Sonnen also highlighted that John was a former boxer and claimed that Tyson having a family could also play a role in his decision.
Boxing and MMA is a tough sport where injuries can end a career or even worse, and it will be interesting to see if Tyson is ready for the next challenge.
Sonnen unsure about Joshua stepping up
The former UFC star also had a go at WBO champion Joshua, who hasn’t made a lot of noises with regards to facing Fury.
Sonnen claimed that Joshua had ducked many fights in the past and it wouldn’t be Fury who would skip out on this.
He also mentioned that Joshua didn’t want to face Wilder, while Fury wiped the floor with the American.
The logical fight is seeing the two British giants go head-to-head for a unifying bout, however, Sonnen wasn’t sure of that too.
The American claimed that Joshua isn’t that big a name in North American to whet the appetite, while Fury certainly is.
