The current British No. 2 has made it to consecutive quarterfinals. He came into the Vienna Open on the back of a quarter-final exit in the European Open. The eventual champion Felix Auger-Aliassime got the better of him on that occasion.
The world No. 26 started his campaign at the Vienna Open with a solid win against Oscar Otte in straight sets 6-4, 7-6 (7-3). Otte sent across 17 aces but that didn’t rattle the experienced Brit. In the round of 16, Evans produced a very professional display against Karen Khachanov to defeat the Russian tennis pro in straight sets 6-2, 6-2.

The Canadian tennis pro hopes to end Evans’ journey like his compatriot did at the European Open quarterfinals. This is his fourth consecutive quarter-final appearance. He made it to the finals in the Korea Open, the semifinals in the Japan Open, and the quarterfinals in the Stockholm Open prior to the Vienna Open.
Shapovalov defeated Jurij Rodionov with a compact performance in the round of 32. The match ended 6-4, 6-4 in favor of the 23-year-old. In the round of 16, Shapovalov produced a fantastic result as he defeated the world No. 10 Taylor Fritz in a riveting three-set affair. Shapovalov won the match 6-1, 4-6, 6-3.
