Daniil Medvedev

The former world No. 1 has made it to his 9th semifinal this season. He has been in blistering form in the Vienna Open and won all of his matches till now in straight sets.

The Russian star began his campaign by making light work of Nikoloz Basilashvili. The former won the match in straight sets. In the round of 16, Medvedev played another compact game that saw the 2020 US Open champion, Dominic Thiem being left clueless. The onslaught continued in the quarterfinals as Medvedev defeated the talented Jannik Sinner in straight sets 6-4, 6-2. An example of Medvedev’s dominance is that he did not even face a break point throughout his quarter-final encounter.

Grigor Dimitrov

The Bulgarian veteran has reached his third semifinal of the season. He previously made it to the semis in Melbourne in January and in the Monte-Carlo Masters in April. Dimitrov entered the tournament on the back of a three-match losing streak. However, that is a thing of the past as Dimitrov has pulled off some fine results thus far in the campaign.

The quarterfinals saw Dimitrov go head-to-head with Marcos Giron. Both players threw the kitchen sink at each other but Dimitrov sealed the victory in the end with the score of 6-3, 4-6, 6-4.
