The world No. 5 Stefanos Tsitsipas takes on the world No. 27 Borna Coric in the round of 16 of the Vienna Open on Thursday.
The Greek tennis pro will look to avenge his loss in the finals of the Cincinnati Masters as he faces the former world No. 12 – Borna Coric. Tsitsipas has already won a couple of titles this season and he reached the finals in the last couple of tournaments he played prior to the Vienna Open. However, he lost on both occasions.
Tsitsipas was stunned by Holger Rune in the finals of the Stockholm Open. The former made a good comeback as he started strongly in Vienna. In the round of 32, Tsitsipas faced Dennis Novak and romped to a win in straight sets 7-6 (7-2), 6-2.
The 25-year-old won a Challenger event in Parma earlier in the year. However, his biggest triumph came in the Cincinnati Masters where he won his third ATP title. He became the lowest-ranked champion in Masters 1000 history with the win in Cincinnati. Coric played in the Japan Open before coming to Vienna. He defeated Thanasi Kokkinakis and Brandon Nakashima before being ousted by Denis Shapovalov in the quarterfinals.
The Croatian tennis pro began his Vienna Open campaign against French qualifier Quentin Halys. Coric came back from a set down to win the match 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.
The head-to-head scoreline currently stands at 2-1 in favor of Coric.
Prediction: Stefanos Tsitsipas to win in three sets.
