Vitor Belfort made his MMA debut at SuperBrawl 2 in October 1996, against Jon Hess. He knocked out Hess in only 12 seconds.
He found himself in the UFC next. The Brazilian made his UFC debut at UFC 12 against Tra Telligman and fought Scott Ferrozzo. He finished both the fighters in the first round and won the UFC 12 Heavyweight Tournament.
At UFC 15, Belfort suffered his first loss against Randy Couture in the UFC Heavyweight title eliminator.
Belfort then made his light-heavyweight debut and moved to PRIDE FC. Three years later Belfort returned to the UFC at UFC 37.5, losing to Chuck Liddell via. unanimous decision.
At UFC 46, Belfort exacted revenge against Couture and won the light-heavyweight championship, but lost it in the very next match against Couture himself.
He left the UFC once again in 2005. Four years later he returned at UFC 103, earning a KO win over Rich Franklin.
Belfort then took on Anderson Silva for the middleweight championship but lost due to a stunning front kick KO from the ‘Spider’.
At UFC 152, Belfort took on Jon Jones for the UFC light-heavyweight championship but lost due to submission.
His last fight in the UFC was at UFC 224, against Lyoto Machida – Belfort succumbed to a front kick from Machida.
