Alpine will be hoping to get a good haul of points at the British GP this weekend after several upgrades to their car.
Ahead of the highly-anticipated British GP this weekend, Alpine has announced several upgrades to their car. The English manufacturer has fared relatively well this season and currently sit in 5th place in the Constructors’ standings.
On Friday, the Alpine F1 team also took to social media to highlight their new upgrades before the Silverstone race. The team had already added updates of revised sidepods and front and rear wings to their beam wing in Montreal, but will again be introducing new parts at this weekend’s British Grand Prix.
A major sidepod and floor redesign was shown by an Alpine engineer earlier on Saturday. The sidepod is similar to the one of the Ferrar, which has a valley between the sidepod edge and the engine bodywork where the top body creates a down washing effect to the rear of the car.
The floor of the car has also been upgraded with a new shape along with a lot of cut-outs along the floor edge. The Alpine team will be hoping that the new upgrades will help drivers Fernando Alonso and Esteban Ocon attempt to close the gap between themselves and McLaren, who are currently in 4th place in the Constructors’ standings.
Alpine have scored in all of the last five races. At the Canadian GP, Ocon and Alonso made it a double-points finish for the team as Ocon and Alonso finished in the top 10.
