Watch: James Harden looking sharp for 76ers as he nails jumpers in training

James Harden looks like he is determined to improve his game further after signing an extension with the 76ers.

Because it’s the offseason, Twitter is flooded with videos of NBA stars working out in the gym and improving their game. The Philadelphia 76ers are no exception. Tyrese Maxey has been working out all summer, but a future Hall of Fame guard James Harden is also working out.

In 21 games with the Sixers after being acquired at the trade deadline, James Harden averaged 21 points, 10.5 assists, and 7.1 rebounds. Due to a persistent hamstring injury, he wasn’t the same explosive Harden, but now that he’s had a whole summer to heal and return to the gym, he’s started putting in the effort again.

A video of The Beard at the gym, putting up jumpers and appearing a touch spry while working hard has surfaced. The Sixers will be one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference as long as Harden and Joel Embiid continues to flourish as the team’s great leaders.

James Harden has agreed to a new contract with the Sixers, with Harden poised to sign a two-year, $68.6 million contract to return to Philadelphia, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, who broke the news on Wednesday evening. He will have a player option in the second year of his contract.

Harden will earn $33 million in 2022-23, a salary drop of more than $14 million from the deal he opted out of this offseason. That’s only a $600,000 difference from previous reports that stated Harden would take a $15 million blow this year, but in any event, Harden has given up a large quantity of short-term money.
