UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is ready to face Tony Ferguson at UFC 249.
The Russian hasn’t fought since his win over Dustin Poirier at UFC 242, which took place in September 2019.
Nurmagomedov posted a workout video on Instagram with the caption: “King has never left, he’s not going anywhere.”
Sweat can be seen pouring out of his helmet as the Russian seems to be in top shape ahead of the Ferguson battle.
Nurmagomedov made the headlines by defeating Conor McGregor at UFC 229 and there was a post-match brawl too which saw the Russian being handed a suspension and fine.
The champion is unbeaten in his MMA career and has a record of 28 wins and no losses. Ferguson will be a tough opponent for Nurmagomedov but there could be a bigger fight coming soon.
McGregor also returned to winning ways by defeating Donald Cerrone with a 40-second knockout.
The Irishman had been away since the loss to Khabib and looked good in the Octagon.
McGregor was open to fighting again in a couple of months and was ready to face anyone and any time.
A Khabib vs McGregor fight this year would be a blockbuster event for the UFC and both fighters.
This would give McGregor a major chance to avenge his defeat while Khabib could further cement his UFC legacy by picking up the win.
