McLaren racer Carlos Sainz made it a special day for three fans as he took them go-karting
Carlos Sainz had a memorable debut season with McLaren as he finished sixth in the driver’s championship.
The former Renault and Toro Rosso star was one of the most consistent racers in the championship and even scored a podium at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Sainz scored points in 13 out of 21 races and had three fifth-place finishes to go with the podium too. The 25-year-old also has a great relationship with teammate Lando Norris and decided to give something back to the fans during the off-season.
Sainz held a competition on social media and three lucky fans won the opportunity to race with him at the Carlos Sainz Karting facility.

The fans were exciting at meeting Sainz and one even worked at the Valencia circuit where F1 races are held.
Sainz wants this to become a tradition
The McLaren racer showed the fans around the facility before asking the participants to be careful on the track since there are many people involved.
Sainz spoke after his session on the track and wanted to do this every year:
“This event is really fun, we try to do it every year.”
The Spaniard explained why he holds the event, which is a way to get to know everyone better and have a bit of fun too:
“In order to create a good vibe with the press. And also to enjoy all together a fun day outside of work.
“This event will become a tradition.”
Sainz then asked how the fans did and was surprised that one just missed out on the podium after finishing fourth.
