Steph Curry, the premier shooter for the Golden State Warriors, has improved his shooting touch in practice so far this year, or maybe not, given the incredible talent that he was born with.
An old video of Steph Curry making 105 straight corner threes went viral on Twitter, mesmerising viewers with how simple he made it appear.
Curry’s practice sessions are already renowned for their rigour and the talent needed to execute them. He’s now demonstrating how difficult it is to make a corner three-point shot. It takes incredible muscle memory, focus, and expertise to pull this off, but it could also be vital at this stage.
Even for a guy who ranks No. 1 on the league’s all-time record for 3-pointers made, shooting that many without missing are quite an accomplishment. Curry is undoubtedly one of the finest 3-point shooters in NBA history. He overtook Reggie Miller for position two and Ray Allen for position one.
The video lasts five minutes and 13 seconds and features just corner 3s. Curry’s reaction after missing the 106th attempt was a mix of excitement and annoyance as he wished he could have kept hitting shots.
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is knowledgeable about made 3s. Although Kerr never attempted more than three 3-pointers per game, Curry attempted 10 tries per game in the last 2 seasons. Kerr owns the NBA record for 3-point shooting percentage with a 45.4 percent mark, slightly better than Curry’s 38 percent in the previous season when the Dubs become NBA Champs.
“He ‘choked’ and failed to complete the 106th”, Kerr mentioned to the reporters when the video actually went online. “I suppose he just lacked the motivation. It’s incredibly depressing. I can assure you that he continued. You continue after making 105 consecutive shots. He probably missed and just wasn’t up to the task.”
One month has passed since the Warriors took home their most recent NBA Championship. Before the 2022–23 season starts, Curry could see more of these popular videos praising his 3-point shooting abilities. Summer is just getting started.
Kids have recently started to celebrate like Steph Curry’s ‘Night Night,’ and one young basketball player even went as far as to fall asleep after making a basket. Even the Warriors’ guard had to react to the celebration when it went viral.
