Why Danel Sinani is a perfect fit at Norwich City
According to Sky Sports, Premier League bottom-placers Norwich City have signed Luxembourg forward Danel Sinani.
23-year-old Sinani has signed a pre-contract agreement with the Canaries, however, the latter have not announced whether any fee has been included in the transfer. Daniel Farke’s Norwich are currently fighting for their survival, with the club reeling at the bottom of the table after gaining promotion just last season.
A Premier League exit looks most likely on the cards with the side having put up the worst show in the league before play got suspended due to coronavirus outbreak. The Canaries still have nine games to save themselves from a drop back into the Championship, however, only the future knows what’s in store for them.
Meanwhile, Sinani’s arrival seems like a blessing for the Canaries outfit, who seem to like enough goal-scoring forwards in their midst. The club has been entirely reliant upon veteran forward Teemu Pukki, who has arguably been the side’s best player in the season so far.
He has scored the major share of their mere 25 goals this season, with 11 coming off his boots. This has seen him establish himself as one of the side’s first-team regulars.
However, apart from him, no one else has been this dominant on the scoresheet that has seen them slip down the rankings this season. Farke’s side has another backup finisher in Swiss international Josip Drmic.
The striker, who arrived from Borussia Monchengladbach just last summer, has failed to make an impact so far. He has managed just a single goal in his maiden season despite appearing 14 times in the league for the Canaries. With the side struggling for goals and having a clear dearth of attacking options, Sinani’s arrival would be a glimmer of hope for Norwich.
Meanwhile, Sinani, who joined Luxembourg giants F91 Dudelange, back in 2017 has been impressive for them, scoring 14 goals in his 16 league outings despite being a winger. Moreover, he has been excellent in the Europa League also for the 15-time Luxembourg champions, netting four goals from five games.
His excellent figures of 46 goals and 29 assists for Dudelange is a testament to the fact that he has huge potential to succeed at the highest level. Though the transition to English football might take him some time, his displays in the Europa League this season prove that it might not take too long.
Considering all that, Sinani seems like a perfect fit at Carrow Road and could be exactly the energy and young blood that they lack in their attack.

Verdict
With just two strikers in their mix, it is clear that Norwich have a dearth of strikers and Sinani’s arrival is just exactly what they need at the moment. Moreover, he will offer Daniel Farke more options in the attack with his current set of players failing to deliver, with Pukki the exception.
Whether Norwich will stay or leave the top-flight, they surely have an attacker amidst them, who can take their game to the next level after having proved his mettle already for Dudelange.
