Why West Ham should make a move for Nahitan Nandez in the summer

According to Tuttomercatoweb (h/t Daily Star), West Ham had made a £34m offer for Cagliari midfielder Nahitan Nandez during the January transfer window. However, a move didn’t materialize and the midfielder stayed put at Cagliari.

The Hammers strengthened the goalkeeping department by re-signing Darren Randolph from Middlesbrough last month. Defensive midfielder Tomas Soucek was recruited on loan from Slavia Prague before West Ham spent £20m-plus for capturing Jarrod Bowen from Hull City on deadline day last week. (h/t BBC)

West Ham currently sit 18th in the league standings – one point adrift of safety and in real danger of suffering relegation to the Championship. They dropped points once again, drawing the game against Brighton after going 3-1 up over the weekend.

Tomas Soucek made his West Ham debut against Brighton but despite the Czech Republic international adding some much-needed quality to the Hammers’ midfield, Moyes should reignite interest in Nahitan Nandez in the summer.

At the age of 24, the Uruguayan has also earned 31 caps for his nation. Over the last two seasons, playing for Boca Juniors, Nandez netted six and two goals respectively.

Verdict

The Uruguay international would add depth to the midfield unit and thus, West Ham must secure Nandez’s signature in the summer.
