Why West Ham United must be patient with Andriy Yarmolenko
West Ham United made a good number of statements since the previous season ended. They signed Manuel Pellegrini as their new manager, who is a former Premier League winner with the high-flying Manchester City.
As a result, he purchased some of the biggest names in the transfer market and the Hammers saw an influx of players over the summer. But unfortunately for them, their initial performances have not been satisfactory enough.
Despite all their big purchases, West Ham are currently at the bottom of the Premier League table. They have failed to win a single game so far and it is indeed a tragic condition they find themselves in. While all the other new signings have blown hot and cold, one summer arrival seems to have been dealt with some harsh words.
As per The Sun, former Ukraine ace Hennadiy Orbu is of the opinion that West Ham should be “sorry” for splashing out £17.5million to sign Andriy Yarmolenko.
However, it is immensely unfair to write Yarmolenko off just yet. The Premier League is immensely demanding physically as well as mentally, and for someone who has never tasted English football before, it can be a daunting task.
The Ukrainian wide man has certainly made no mistakes in the game time he has received so far. But at the same time, he hasn’t excelled either. But how many players can work wonders when the rest of the team is crumbling apart on the field?
Yarmolenko is yet to get adjusted to life in the Premier League. However, he is also yet to gel with the rest of the West Ham squad. And the problem for the Hammers is that most of their new players have not been able to understand and develop partnerships with the existing players. And one cannot really blame them for that. The timing of Yarmolenko’s arrival is truly unfortunate since every move of his will come under the scanner now.
But the 28-year-old boasts of ample pace, power and technical skill, making him ideal for the English top-flight. And writing him off so early would be a massive mistake for West Ham.

The Hammers have collectively failed as a team on numerous occasions this season, which has made it difficult for Yarmolenko to settle in. But if Pellegrini can work towards extracting the best out of his squad, there is no reason why Yarmolenko cannot flourish.
