Rudy Gobert, Ja Morant and others: Western Conference Candidates for NBA All-Star 2022

Published by

NBA yearly gala is upon us and fans’ voting has already begun from Christmas Day. Let us check on possible starting five from Western Conference.

NBA conducts All-star competition on yearly basis, where selected stars get to entertain the fans with their smooth and equally acrobatic plays. This year All-Star game will be held in Cleveland on 22nd February 2022 and fans’ voting has begun.

As per the selection process, starting 5 players will be selected by a combination of Fans, Media and players voting. We will see potential 5 starters for the Western Conference All-Star stars which might help you to vote,

Guard: Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry seems to be the obvious choice given his scoring form and the popularity among the fans. The western conference has a rich pool of guards and there are many candidates for the All-Star Game, but the starting place will be with the Warriors superstar.

Stephen Curry ready to dazzle in All-Star Game

Curry is averaging 27 points, 6 assists, and 1.5 steals per game in the highly talented Golden State Warriors squad. Stephen Curry has 7 all-star appearances and is destined to get a nod for the 8th one.

Guard: Ja Morant

The Second Guard position in the Western Conference is a difficult choice as there are no clear favorites like Steph. Donovan Mitchell, Chris Paul, and Ja Morant are having great seasons so far and will be choices for 2nd starting guard position from the West.

But a slight advantage will be given to Ja Morant, provided the young and former Rookie of the year has played a significantly huge role in his team’s performance so far. He might not be in the top 10 scoring leaders but the plays and overall contribution for his team will put him top 5 in the western conference.

Forward: LeBron James

The King on the court is doing it all again. LeBron James is playing one of the best seasons of his career, averaging 28.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 6.5 assists in a game – at age of 37. LeBron might start in all possible all-star games till he decides to retire.

He is the face of the NBA and has already captained and won 3 consecutive all-star games since the change in the format. It will be his 18th appearance in an All-star game equaling Kobe Bryant‘s tally and 1 short of a record.

Forward: Rudy Gobert

Just like the difficulty in choosing the 2nd starting guard position, the starting forwards is also a very interesting one. We have Draymond Green, Rudy Gobert, Anthony Davis, and Karl Anthony Towns as probable candidates. Out of these Green and Gobert will be feasible options and a very close contest for a possible starting place.

Gobert will be looking for his 1st all star start

Though both players will play in All-star games, starting place would go to the defensive juggernaut of Utah. He has played in 2 All-star games before but has never started one. This could be his year, and his consistent production on the floor suggests that he will be a 2022 All-star starter.

Center: Nikola Jokic

Another obvious choice in the western conference would be Jokic. The player is putting up huge performances day in and day out for his team. He is leading his team in scoring, rebounding, assists, and steals. Jokic is an enormous contributor to the Nuggets and of course for the game also.

There you go, you can mention your western conference starting lineup in the comment box. Please vote for your favorite stars.
