UFC 291 had some huge fights but who was the highest-paid fighter and what are the payouts and salaries?
Dustin Poirier vs Justin Gaethje was the main event for UFC 291. This was a rematch between the two former Lightweight interim champions while the event had a few other big names on the card as well.
Alex Pereira was moving up a class to fight Jan Blachowicz in the light heavyweight division. Bobby Green and Tony Ferguson also clashed in the battle of the veterans while Derrick Lewis was back in action at the event.
As with any UFC event, there was quite a bit of money paid to the fighters. Poirier and Gaethje were fighting for the BMF belt, and this is where the most money was paid out.
The Sportsdaily shared what the expected payouts and salaries would be for UFC 291 and the main event gets a lot of money.
Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje get paid big
The report from Sportsdaily claims that Dustin Poirier would bag $1.02 million while the second highest-paid fighter would be Justin Gaethje.
Gaethje would earn a guaranteed pay of $511,000. The two stars in the co-main would be the next biggest earners at the clash.
Jan Blachowicz would be guaranteed a payout of $216,000 while Pereira would get $316,000.
Stephen Thompson was the next in line for the big pay. However, since his fight against Michel Pereira was called out, Wonderboy seems unlikely to make $166,000 despite making weight for the fight. Derrick Lewis comes in next as he also made $166,000, guaranteed from the event.
Who else is making a big amount at UFC 291?
UFC veterans Tony Ferguson, Bobby Green and Kevin Holland all are making six figures from the event.
However, none of them are making the $166,000 that Thompson was to make and Lewis will make.
Michael Chiesa comes in next as he is to make $96,000 from the event while the next highest earner from UFC 291 is Marcos Rogerio de Lima, who is set to make $91,000.
