We all know WWE superstar Randy Orton. The Viper is mainly famous for his vicious RKO finishing maneuver. But what does RKO stands for in WWE? Let us have a look at what this RKO means.
Randal Keith Orton is an American professional wrestler popularly known by WWE fans across the globe as Randy Orton.
He is regarded as one of the best pro wrestlers of all time. Orton is a third-generation superstar after his father Bob Orton Jr. and grandfather Bob Orton.
The Viper was the youngest WWE World Heavyweight Champion in the history of WWE at just 24 years. He gathered popularity soon after debuting for WWE as a part of Evolution which also featured Triple H, The “Nature Boy” Ric Flair, and Batista.
At just the age of 27, he became the WWE Champion making him the second-youngest after winning two WWE reigns in one night.
Orton went on to win the WWE Champion 10 times and WWE World Heavyweight Champion 4 times.
The Apex Predator is a Royal Rumble winner in 2009 and Money in the Bank winner in 2013. He has the third most championship victories with 14 championships behind John Cena and Ric Flair, both at 16 titles.
Randy Orton is best known for his finishing maneuver, The RKO, but what does it mean.
WWE superstar Randy Orton is famous for giving many signature moves and finishers like Punt Kick, Apron DDT but the one that stands out from all of these is RKO.
RKO stands for Real Knockout or Randy Knockout. According to Wrestling JAT Wiki, It is a variation of the cutter. This move sees the wrestler jumping towards the opponent, grabbing the opponent’s head in a three-quarter face lock parallel to the ground, and then slamming the opponent’s face to the mat in a cutter.
RKO also stands for Randy Keith Orton, but most connotations take place via the finisher that Orton has made so popular.
But do you know who originated the RKO, surprisingly it was not Orton.
As per WWE.com, This move was originated by The People Power, former WCW superstar John Laurinaitis playing by his then ring name Johnny ACE. Laurinaitis hit the First RKO, which was also—known at that time as Ace Crusher. He gave innumerous Ace Crushers to fellow wrestlers.
After that, many superstars gave this attack in their version like The Dudley Boys (Dudley Death Drop), Jeff Hardy ( The Twist of Fury).
However, The WWE Universe resembles only one name with RKO, with The Apex Predator Randy Orton.
Randy Orton can give RKO out nowhere, which makes it more special because The Viper is ferocious and fast when it comes to RKO.
