Israel Adesanya and his dog have been making the news in recent days, but what is it about?
Israel Adesanya is the current UFC Middleweight Champion, and he has had his fair share of controversies.
There have been questions regarding his sexuality with some calling him gay, but there is nothing to substantiate that. The New Zealander has also been in a war of words regarding who is a real African after Dricus Du Plessis called him out.
Adesanya was born in Nigeria but moved with his parents to New Zealand, and has fought from that country. Du Plessis is a South African, and he was supposed to fight Adesanya at UFC 293.
Then there is the other controversy about Adesanya possibly being from China. The Last Stylebender spent some time in China during his kickboxing days, and even draped himself with the country’s flag.
However, there is no confirmation that Adesanya is Chinese. Now, there is another controversy surrounding Israel Adesanya and that is regarding his dog.
Earlier this year, Adesanya responded to a clip shared on Twitter (now known as X). It was a message that his dog, Milli had died. However, the video shared by the user showed the UFC Middleweight champion touching his dog’s private parts.
There was more to come regarding this story. Noted MMA fan and content creator, MMA Guru, decided to make a video regarding this story as well.
He listed several instances of Adesanya bringing up his dog or even talking about having puppies.
MMA Guru also pointed out an account that Adesanya followed. This was of Jenna, who does role-play as a puppy/dog/pet and makes content on OnlyPaws.
MMA Guru was a little shocked seeing this and even asked the UFC Champion to explain this development. He further added that title challenger Sean Strickland would be using this as “ammo” ahead of the big fight this weekend.
There are several older tweets of Adesanya talking about dogs and he seems to have some weird fetish about them.
This was one really weird take and then there was another one that was posted a few years back as well. The tweet was more graphic in nature.
Sean Strickland will be fighting Israel Adesanya for the UFC Middleweight title at UFC 293.
The American was named as Adesanya’s next opponent after Du Plessis picked up an injury. While Strickland doesn’t have a long winning streak at the moment, with only two consecutive wins under his belt, he could be a tough opponent for the champion.
Strickland did lose against former Middleweight champion Alex Pereira in 2022 and then to Jared Cannonier, but has defeated Nassourdine Imavov and Abusupiyan Magomedov in his last two outings.
Strickland is also known for speaking his mind and attacking his rivals on social media, and even he reacted to this video from MMA Guru.
This was a rather tame response from the controversial figure and there is no doubt this will be brought up some time before the fight.
One fan even asked Strickland about the dog video ahead of UFC 293, and the challenger had a hilarious response:
Strickland has had a lot to say about Adesanya in the past, and he won’t let this chance go to waste.
Adesanya should be coming into this fight as the heavy favourite, but nothing can be ruled out in the world of MMA.
Adesanya regained his title from Pereira after losing it, and there was a heated rivalry between the pair. The Kiwi has built rivalries with Du Plessis and Strickland, and this should make for interesting viewing ahead of UFC 293.
Du Plessis could be the next opponent for Adesanya, should he win, or we could even have him fight Strickland should the American win.
Adesanya will be fighting in front of an Australian crowd, and there is no doubt he will have something planned for Strickland during the walkout and also after the fight.
