Dave Hester, a star of Storage Wars, was let go from the program, however, at the time, there was no obvious explanation. He was infamous for being boisterous and uncontrolled during auctions and was the most contentious buyer in the entire series.
Dave made an immediate impact onscreen, from his catchphrase to the fact that he was a disgruntled loser. Because of this, it was obvious when he wasn’t there on the show.
Dave’s disappearance from season 4 of Storage Wars, a popular series on A&E at the time, was notable, and several viewers were confused as to where he had gone. Brandi Passante and Jarrod Schulz, two other stalwarts of the show, continued to appear, but there were still rumors concerning Dave. He did join the show again, and details regarding the reasons behind his earlier departure have surfaced.
What Made Storage Wars Fire Dave Hester?
Due to a lawsuit, Dave had filed against the show, he was let go from Storage Wars season 4. David filed a lawsuit against the show between seasons 3 and 4, claiming that the entire run was pre-written.
David’s lawsuit, as reported by Looper, alleged that “The truth is that Defendants regularly salt or plant the storage lockers that are the subject of the auctions portrayed on the Series with valuable or unusual items to create drama and suspense for the show.” He raised many other criticisms of the show before stating that he was “not comfortable participating in this charade.“
After a lawsuit, David Hester rejoined the Storage Wars
In response to Dave’s accusations, A&E (the Storage Wars network) executives sacked him from the show. During the courtroom conflict, Dave filed additional lawsuits against the show for wrongful termination. Dave did better than A&E in the lawsuit, but he did succeed in one of his claims against the network.
After some time, the legal dispute was resolved, and things between him and the network were good enough for him to come back to the program. Sadly, Dave’s health began to decline towards the conclusion of his run, but he continued to make frequent appearances on the show.
Although David and Storage Wars have had a tumultuous relationship for a while, how his dismissing and rehiring process played out shocked the audience. After the dust from the lawsuit settled, the network and the star were able to put the situation to rest, and David was ready to return to the program, where he stayed for years. Even after it ended, Storage Wars continues to be a cultural phenomenon, thus the explanation for David’s departure is undoubtedly intriguing.
Hester has experienced some health problems.
According to numerous media sources, Dave Hester experienced a hemorrhagic stroke in 2018 and was immediately taken to the hospital, where he was treated for sleep apnea. Hester’s breathing stopped more than 100 times in one hour, according to TMZ, which resulted in an oxygen deficiency and raised blood pressure, which in turn caused the stroke. Hester spent a few more days in the intensive care unit even though he got to the hospital in time for physicians to save him. He spent the next month recovering at a physical therapy facility, where he had to relearn how to walk.
Although Hester’s medical issue may have come as a surprise, it appears that it marked the beginning of what fans have come to refer to as The “Storage Wars” Curse. Another actor from the A&E show, Barry Weiss, was seriously injured in a bicycle accident in 2019. As a result, according to TMZ, Weiss needed numerous operations. In a similar vein, Darrell Sheets revealed in March 2019 that he had surgery after experiencing two heart attacks back-to-back on the same day.
