In response to Dave’s accusations, A&E (the Storage Wars network) executives sacked him from the show. During the courtroom conflict, Dave filed additional lawsuits against the show for wrongful termination. Dave did better than A&E in the lawsuit, but he did succeed in one of his claims against the network.
After some time, the legal dispute was resolved, and things between him and the network were good enough for him to come back to the program. Sadly, Dave’s health began to decline towards the conclusion of his run, but he continued to make frequent appearances on the show.

According to numerous media sources, Dave Hester experienced a hemorrhagic stroke in 2018 and was immediately taken to the hospital, where he was treated for sleep apnea. Hester’s breathing stopped more than 100 times in one hour, according to TMZ, which resulted in an oxygen deficiency and raised blood pressure, which in turn caused the stroke. Hester spent a few more days in the intensive care unit even though he got to the hospital in time for physicians to save him. He spent the next month recovering at a physical therapy facility, where he had to relearn how to walk.

Another actor from the A&E show, Barry Weiss, was seriously injured in a bicycle accident in 2019. As a result, according to TMZ, Weiss needed numerous operations. In a similar vein, Darrell Sheets revealed in March 2019 that he had surgery after experiencing two heart attacks back-to-back on the same day.
