Mickie James seemed set to do well against Asuka but something happened in the title match on Raw

There was a lot of confusion during the WWE Raw Women’s title match on this week’s show. Mickie James was the surprise challenger against Asuka and the former Divas Champion put on a great show.

James might be older than Asuka but she used her experience really well. She also seemed to have the champion in trouble, despite a few botches, but couldn’t win the title.

Asuka, who is known for her submission abilities, caught hold of James during the latter part of the match.

While it seemed that James was in a lot of trouble, she was just about surviving. However, the referee claimed James was unable to continue the match and called it off. James looked extremely surprised at the ending but rolled out of the ring.

There is a lot of confusion regarding the finish of the match and what really happened to James.

James seemed to be in a tight spot and WWE legend Mick Foley claimed she hurt her shoulder. Even former WWE star Lance Storm claimed that James had popped her shoulder and the referee had to make a quick call.

It was interesting to hear the announcement after the match too. It was claimed that James was unable to continue, and it did not say that she tapped out to the Asuka lock.

WWE also released a statement regarding James and added that the referee took the decision where the former champion was unable to continue.

However, Bryan Alvarez posted an update regarding this and claimed that the referee made an error.

It seems that James didn’t suffer an injury and it might have been a wrong call by the referee. James’ reaction after the call also seems to suggest that a mistake was made but hopefully, she is fine and nothing serious happened to her.

It will be interesting to see what is next for James after this match. Asuka needs another rival but this botched call could see a rematch between the pair too.
