Karrion Kross won the NXT title at TakeOver: XXX but also suffered a suspected separated shoulder
Karrion Kross climbed to the summit of WWE NXT but suffered a fall just as quickly. Doomsday defeated Keith Lee to win the NXT title at TakeOver: XXX.
However, he picked up a separated shoulder during this clash. Reports suggested that Kross was injured in the match but fought on with the problem.
WWE confirmed that Kross picked up a “separated acromioclavicular joint” and would undergo an MRI on Monday.
The full extent of the injury isn’t known but Kross could be out for a few months recovering from the problem.
A separated shoulder takes between 2-12 weeks to heal. However, it also depends on the severity of the injury.
Kross would have to undergo a lot of rehab to ensure his shoulder can deal with his range of moves in a ring. That could add more time off NXT for Doomsday, and this leads to a big question.
What happens to the NXT title after Kross’ injury?
WWE might have to remove Kross from the championship if he is out of action for a while. If he is out for a month, they could keep the belt on him, however, any longer than that and things get complicated.
Lee should be the one who gets a crack at the title should Kross be stripped. The Limitless One picked up the title from Adam Cole, and it was a bit of a surprise that Kross was given the title so quickly after making his WWE debut.
Kross came with a lot of hype alongside Scarlett Bordeaux and he has defeated everyone who has come in his way.
Doomsday has mostly dominated his rivals, however, his match against Lee wasn’t the same story. Lee also impressed in this outing and if he is handed the title back, it would make sense.
WWE can also have a tournament where the winner gets to face Lee for the title. It is only right if Lee gets a shot at the title again since he should have been the first one to challenge Kross.
Lee deserved a rematch but that might not take place if Kross’ injury is severe. This will come as a blow to Doomsday and it provides shades of what happened to Finn Balor a few years back.
The Demon Prince became the first-ever Universal Champion in his debut WWE PPV. However, he had to relinquish the crown due to an injury and was out for a while.
Hopefully, Kross isn’t out for long and returns to WWE action soon. Doomsday can dominate NXT as the champion but his injury has put a spanner in the works for now.
