What If?

Please be aware that this section contains spoilers. Before continuing, please carefully read through and accept our Terms and Policies before clicking “Accept” to continue.

What If? is an animated series that subverts Marvel Cinematic Universe films by reimagining iconic moments from them in unexpected ways. It debuted on Disney+ in August 2021 and quickly gained a following; familiar faces such as Rina Hidaka as Claire Kagenou, Seichiro Yamashita as Cid, Ai Fairouz as Alpha, Tomokazu Sugita as Crimson and Saori Hayami as Elisabeth are featured. Additionally, new voice actors bring these characters to life.

First season filming took approximately 200 days and then months of post-production editing and special effects addition. According to Executive Producer Craig Mazin, season 2 will take approximately 120 days of filming time before its completion by early 2024.

Jeffrey Wright will presumably return as The Watcher, while Cynthia McWilliams will reprise her voice of Gamora. Unfortunately, Chadwick Boseman won’t reprise his role of John Dutton Sr. or Jennifer Ehle will no longer reprise their Sister Mary roles; Harrison Ford however seems eager to resume working on Season 2. Ford told The Hollywood Report: “I can’t wait to get started working on Season 2!”

The Losers Club

The Losers Club is an unconventional group of kids that confront life problems, bullies and an invisible monster that feeds off whatever fear they hold most deeply. Jonathan Brandis and Richard Thomas give outstanding performances as Bill Denbrough (child and adult). Both actors perfectly capture Bill Denbrough’s debilitating stutter as well as his sense of fundamental decency, mixed with anger.

Alec delivers an engaging presentation about what it means to be a loser at an open house, which was enthusiastically received. At this same event, he develops feelings for Nina who joins the Losers Club as a freshman; but soon discovers that Nina’s popular best friend Kent has taken to taunting him in order to gain more of his attention.

After Ben makes a breakthrough, Beverly and Richie host him for a going away party but he decides not to move after his aunt relocates him back home to Derry from Tennessee. Eddie continues dealing with asthma while Rachel attempts to convince Stan not to bully her anymore. Beverly attempts couple’s therapy with Richie only to have horrific results that force the Losers out once more from an Asian restaurant they had visited before they promise they will come back when possible.

The Bowers Gang

Henry Bowers and his gang of local bullies and antagonistic classmates of the Losers Club. Henry is known to Derry residents for being cruel and sadistic; his switchblade, car and curled locks make for an intimidating sight. Along with Peter Gordon, Victor “Vic” Criss and Reginald “Belch” Huggins from his gang, Henry enjoys tormenting Losers Club members as well as other children in town.

In this adaptation of Peter and Moose are absent while Belch appears to have more of an identity within his gang than he did in the book. Additionally, Henry remains capable of maintaining order within his group through manipulation and fear-mongering; but has no tolerance for those who challenge his authority or cross his path.

In 1958, the Bowers Gang tormented the Losers Club by dousing Mike Hanlon in mud, poisoning his dog with food laced with insecticide, breaking Eddie Kaspbrak’s arm and white washing Stan Uris’ face until it bled. Additionally, during this time they befriended Y/n Bowers, Henry Bowers’ younger sister.

Muschietti states that in this adaptation of “Y/n,” her character will become wilder and her relationship with the Bowers gang will become much more complex.

The Bowers Family

Bowers family have made sure to find time for each other despite their busy lives as secret agents, sharing a passion for oceanic activities such as swimming. Bowers shared that she and her siblings taught one another how to swim at a young age and still go together swimming today; in addition, Bowers learned from her brothers how the sea can heal them emotionally.

Loid, Anya and Yor are back for another round of espionage adventures as Loid continues his role in spying underground while Anya, Yor and Loid continue their roles within their family unit – hinting that this season may focus more on family elements; season two’s key visual shows the Forger family onboard a large cruise ship in the distance – suggesting future plot arcs could center around such excursions as well.

Bowers family is well known for their military connections as well as its lively personalities and love of music, making their story one for history books. Nolyar Bowers lived post-slavery and predicted the Great Migration which brought Black families from the South into cities such as New York and Chicago, yet made one important request which still unites his descendants over 100 years later.
