Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton could be set for one of the toughest matches in WWE, an Ambulance match
Drew McIntyre opened this week’s WWE Raw with some words of warning for Randy Orton.
The WWE Champion is still carrying a fractured jaw from Orton’s attack a while back. However, McIntyre got his own when he hit Orton with three claymores last week.
The Viper was sent packing to the hospital as he rode in an ambulance, and it seems McIntyre is interested in this.
The Scottish Psychopath challenged Orton at Clash of Champions to an ambulance match.
WWE has seen only a handful of ambulance matches, and this is one of their gimmicks used to showcase a huge rivalry.
Time to take a ride
WWE has several matches where one person has to incapacitate their rival. The Last Man Standing match is one of them where the winner has to be on his feet while his rival cannot stand up after a 10-count.
WWE has also played with the buried alive match and a casket match, and the ambulance match is a variation of that.
The stipulation is simple, a wrestler must put their rival into the back of an ambulance and then shut the door.
There are basically no rules on how to get the rival into the ambulance. Anything goes and the only way to win the ambulance match is to send the rival into the vehicle.
Most ambulance matches turned out to be gruesome events, and it will be interesting to see if Orton is fit enough to face McIntyre.
Adam Pearce appeared on Raw and confirmed that Orton isn’t 100% set for Clash of Champions. WWE tried to find a new challenger for McIntyre and set him up against Keith Lee.
Lee winning this clash would have set up a McIntyre vs Lee event at Clash of Champions but Retribution interrupted.
Orton vs McIntyre or McIntyre vs Lee would be great at Clash of Champions. However, an ambulance match would certainly be an interesting stipulation for the WWE Champion to work with.
