What is Guild Esports? Learn all about David Beckham’s latest Esports venture

Football legend David Beckham has dipped his hands into the Esports business with Guild Esports being his first venture

Former England captain David Beckham is one of the co-owners of Guild Esports and the company is on the search for the top talents in several sports.

FIFA, Rocket League and CS:GO are some of the sports that Guild Esports will venture into. CS:GO is one of the earliest games that turned into an esport and sites such as provide several options on how to get the best skins via fair means.

CS:GO also is one of the most-watched esports in the world but the likes of FIFA, Rocket League and Tekken are also catching up fast.

What does Guild Esports deliver?

While Beckham is known for his career on the pitch, the Englishman has invested in several ventures. He has an MLS team, Inter Miami CF, has his own academy and is also part owner of English side Salford City.

However, Guild Esports is a completely different business that Beckham has invested in.

The plan seems to be to build up the team and have a talent pool ready to take on all comers across the various games.

How much is the Esports market size?

Although competitive gaming hasn’t been there for an extremely long time, there are millions watching from all around the globe.

Newzoo (h/t BBC) claimed that 443million viewers watched esports in 2019-20 and that number will rise to 646m in 2023.

Other games are also joining the esports market with competitions for NBA 2K, Overwatch and many more.

To ensure a strong base for Guild Esports, the company was listed on the London Stock Exchange in September 2020.

The aim was to raise over £20million with the shares being available for purchase. While Beckham aims to hit gold in the business, he isn’t the first football to have done so.

Gareth Bale also has his own esports team and many top Premier League stars also are great on FIFA. Sergio Aguero, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Diogo Jota all play FIFA regularly, and Jota even won the ePremier League Invitational during to the Coronavirus lockdown.
