Earlier on Tuesday, Ilia Topuria and Paddy Pimblett were involved in a physical altercation in a hotel ahead of their respective bouts at UFC London. The two UFC stars threw punches at each other before being separated by onlookers and members of Topuria’s team.
Now, fans have been curious to know more about the German-born Georgian, who was upset after Pimblett mocked events during the 2008 war between Georgia and Russia.
In 2021, Pimblett put out a tweet belittling Topuria’s Georgia during the country’s 2008 war with Russia. Clearly, the 25-year-old was upset by the British fighter’s words and took matters into his own hands to convey a message across.
What is Ilia Topuria’s UFC and MMA record?
Ilia Topuria is currently undefeated in his MMA career and boasts an 11-0 record. He has fought three times in the UFC, coming out victorious on all occasions. In total, Touria has seven wins by submission, three by KO and one via decision.
Topuria’s first win of his MMA career came at the West Coast Warriors event in 2015. He then went on to compete at Climent Show MMA, Mix Fight Events, Cage Warriors and Brave CF before joining the UFC in 2020.
His first fight in the UFC was in October 2020 against Youssef Zalal in Abu Dhabi and it went all three rounds before Topuria was declared the winner via unanimous decision. In his second UFC bout two months later, Topuria KO’d Damon Jackson in the Octagon under three minutes. His most recent fight was at UFC 264 where Topuria KO’d Ryan Hall.
Topuria will be looking to maintain his impressive unbeaten streak when he squares off against Jai Herbert on Sunday.
