Milly Alcock as Rhaenyra Targaryen in the House of Dragon
Rhaenyra Targaryen is one of the first characters in the House of Dragon. She is the daughter of the ruling king, Viserys I, whose wife is expecting a baby when the series begins with the king hoping desperately for a son so that he will have a male heir to sure up the line of succession.
However, tragedy strikes and both the queen and the newborn baby, who was indeed a son, die within hours of each other.
This leaves Viserys with an agonising decision: to allow his brother, the wayward Daemon, to claim the throne or to name his daughter, Rhaenyra, as his successor which would be an unprecedented move.
At the end of episode 1, Viserys makes his choice and Rhaenyra is named as the king’s heir, which would make her the first queen to rule Westeros – providing no other obstacles arise.
