Know more about the infamous biggest blowout defeat in the NBA history

Every sport has its fair share of blowouts that set prominent marks in the course of history and are spoken of for years, down the lane. In the National Basketball Association, USA as well, there have been many an occasion where the winning margin has been unbelievably high, leading to some of the most memorable games of the game.

Since the setting up of the NBA, there have been some odd records that would make you ponder. Like when the longest game in American basketball went on between the Olympians and Royals in 1951, which went on for 78 minutes with 6 overtimes, as in NBA there’s no question of a draw. Although blowouts are not nail-biters, it’s always interesting to find out how big the difference is. And speaking of these differences let’s find out the five biggest blowouts in the NBA.

5. Golden State Warriors vs. Sacramento Kings

On November 2, the match between the Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings set the future of the game at the very first half when the score was 48-18 in favor of the Warriors. Although this is one of the top 5 blowouts, it is not as memorable for the results although drastic wasn’t surprising. The Kings comprised a weaker team and on the other hand, the warriors were in the hands of Coach Don Nelson who led the team to consistent success. They finished off with a score of 153-91 with the Warriors beating the Kings by 62 points.

4. Syracuse Nationals vs. New York Knicks

Syracuse Nationals the predecessors to the Philadelphia 76ers presented one impressive historical game on the court on 25th December 1960. The entire team played an offense hardly ever seen like before. Each of the team members except one ended up scoring double figures against the Knicks. The score ended up at 162-100 in favor of the Nationals, giving the Americans a lightning-fast offense to talk about for years.

3. Golden State Warriors vs. the Los Angeles Lakers

The Warriors seem to have found themselves twice here already on the list but this time not to their favor. Held on 19th March 1972, the Lakers ended up scoring a high score of 162 which was not surprising since their team included champion players of all-time – Jerry West, Gail Goodrich, and Wilt Chamberlain who himself was responsible for scoring a 100 once in a game. However the superstar wasn’t even at his top game, and the Warriors despite being with great defense ended up losing to the Warriors by 63 points.

2. Portland Trailblazers vs. Indiana Pacers

February 29, 1998, set the path for one surprising game. The Trailblazers scored 59 points in total, whereas the Pacers had scored 59 by halftime. Moreover, the surprise came on, especially since throughout the 1998 season the Trailblazers showed defense that most other teams lacked. Despite being adept players, a shocking difference of 65 points was set, with the Pacers winning with 124 points.

1. Cleveland Cavaliers vs. Miami Heat

And that leads us to one of the most spoken-of games and the biggest blowout in the NBA ever. Surprisingly this game too is of 1991, just a month after the Warriors and Sacramento Kings’ game blowout. While it seemed everything that could have gone wrong for Miami Heat, did despite them being adept players. And on the other hand, the Cavaliers put up a game of a lifetime scoring 148 points in total. Sadly the Heat was only at 80 when the game finished keeping the difference at a high of 68.

The biggest NBA blowout win was a game between Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat.

And these were the top 5 blowouts in the NBA. Although these records were set before the 2000s entered, doesn’t mean the 21st century itself is free of oddities and its fair share of blowouts. For instance, it was in 2007 when the Denver Nuggets defeated the Charlotte Hornets by a whopping score of 121 with a 58 point difference.
