Fortnite is thriving once again – and it just so happens that Family Guy’s Peter Griffin has become the star of the show. Peter Griffin, or should I say buff Peter Griffin is a part of this season’s Battle Pass, but he’s also located as an NPC boss fight on the island in Snooty Steppes. If you succeed in killing him, you’ll obtain Peter Griffin’s Hammer Pump Shotgun (Mythic) and Peter Griffin’s Medallion but it’s his death animation that we want to draw attention to.
After killing Peter, instead of immediately disappearing into oblivion like players and NPCs typically do when they die, Peter will fall to the ground and recreate the iconic hurt knee meme. It’s very amusing and has immediately proved a hit with fans. “OMG lol. That’s gold,” commented one, while another added, “That’s the best thing in this update.” Bravo devs, bravo. While Epic Games is currently in the news for all the positive reasons due to the latest updates to their Magnum Opus in Fortnite, they were sued not very long ago.
When and why were Epic Games sued?
Back in 2019, which feels so long ago now, a Canadian law firm called Calex Legal began seeking approval to file a class action lawsuit against Epic Games. The reason? Some unhappy parents, who claimed that their children were addicted to Fortnite.
In Calex Legal’s original filing, it’s stated that the so-called addiction to Fortnite is similar to cocaine addiction”, and a source is cited in which it’s claimed that that the game is “as addictive as heroin”. Very bold claims, no doubt. Now though, as PC Gamer and CTV News report, a judge in Quebec has authorised the class action, which means that the lawsuit can go ahead.
“The effects of video game addiction, including Fortnite, on the brains of children is particularly damaging in that when they are continually attached to their machines, they develop severe deficiencies in their ability to integrate the full spectrum [of human] emotions,” the lawsuit reads (via PC Gamer). “Specialists report gaps in vocabulary as well as gaps in social integration. Indeed, it is recognised that the continued use of electronic devices causes significant changes to the prefrontal cortex of the human brain, changes that particularly affect young developing brains.”
Unsurprisingly, Epic Games doesn’t exactly have the same point of view, and in a statement to PC Gamer, spokesperson Natalie Munoz confirmed that the company plans “to fight this in court”, stating that: “This recent decision only allows the case to proceed. We believe the evidence will show that this case is meritless.” Munoz also made reference to the company’s “industry-leading Parental Controls that empower parents to supervise their child’s digital experience”. As Epic Games pointed out, just because the lawsuit is being allowed to proceed, that doesn’t mean that it’ll end up amounting to anything, and it certainly sounds like the company is confident that the case will end up going in its favour.

Fortnite recently celebrated a monumental occasion. Six years after it was launched, the game has just hit an all-time player count high thanks to the release of the latest season, Fortnite OG.
In case you missed it, Fortnite OG brings back the beloved original map, last seen in 2018 – and I say beloved through gritted teeth. Featuring fan-favourite locations like Tilted Towers and Greasy Grove, Fortnite OG is a dream for anyone who enjoys singing ‘Chug Jug With You’, and that’s clearly a lot of people.
On X, formerly Twitter, the Fortnite team announced that Saturday 4 November marked “the biggest day in Fortnite’s history” with over 44.7 million players jumping into the latest season, totalling over 102 million hours of play. With the sets of new characters added to their repertoire in the latest version, Fortnite OG has been a smash-hit – and is likely to continue being one for gamers all across the world.
