Australian UFC star Tai ‘Bam Bam’ Tuivasa is credited to have introduced the shoey to the promotion

UFC stars have to be a little different to stand out from the hundreds of stars trying to make a name for themselves.

While personas, fighting styles, hairstyles and intro music, Tai Tuivasa brought out an Australian celebration at UFC 221.

After defeating Cyril Asker in a great performance, Tuivasa drank beer from a shoe. That is a celebration done in Australia and Daniel Ricciardo of Formula One is another star that has performed this rather disgusting act.

When asked about the celebration, Tuivasa spoke about it being an Australian thing and even suggested that people have used older boots to drink out of.

The Australian was at it again in his next fight as he defeated Andrei Arlovski and this time he even shared a rather sick story with Ariel Helwani.

Making the drink rather risky

The 27-year-old Tuivasa has the nickname of Bam Bam in the octagon. However, his shoey antics saw one media outlet calling him as “Shoeyvasa” after he drank beer from fan shoes at UFC 225.

MMA reporter Ariel Helwani spoke about Tuivasa asking for his shoe to do another shoey. While the Canadian journalist added that he didn’t have alcohol on him, Tuivasa claimed that he could drink a urine shoey too:

It will be interesting to see if Tuivasa does a shoey in his upcoming bout. The Australian has lost his last three clashes and has an MMA record of 9-3.

He was 9-0 until that Arlovski fight but has lost his last three fights in the UFC. His last clash was against Sergey Spivak, which took place at UFC 243.

The Australian will be in action at UFC 254 as he takes on Stefan Struve at Fight Island next.
