What is wrong with Hoda Kotb’s daughter Hope?

Hoda Kotb returned to her anchoring duties on The Today Show on Monday.

The Emmy-winning journalist — who co-anchors the NBC morning news show with Savannah Guthrie, as well as hosts Today’s fourth hour alongside Jenna Bush Hager — had been off live airways since Feb. 17, dealing with what Craig Melvin and Sheinelle Jones explained in a March 1 broadcast was “a family health matter.”

The beloved co-anchor returned to the morning show on March 6 after a week-long absence and shared that her daughter Hope Catherine, 3, is recovering from a health matter. She elaborated more on what happened Monday, explaining that her daughter Hope Catherine, 3, had health complications that landed her in the Intensive care unit and the hospital.

My youngest, Hope, was in the ICU for and then in the hospital for a little over a week,” Kotb, 58, said. “I’m so grateful she’s home, she is back home. I was waiting for that day to come, and we are watching her closely.”

You know what I realized too, Savannah? It’s like, when your child is ill, the amount of gratitude you can have for people who helped you out,” Kotb continued. “So I’m grateful for the doctors at Weill Cornell who were amazing and the nurses. And I’m grateful for my family and I’m grateful to friends like you who were there every single day. So I want to say thank you for that. I love you.”

However, many people have since asked what is wrong with her daughter.

Not just Hope, but Kotb herself could not be on air for about a week owing to a coronavirus scare. However, the scare only proved to be a passing one as a grateful Kotb was back on the Today Show – even sharing an inspirational quote before making her return to air.

Shortly before the start of Today, Hoda shared a quote on her Instagram by Christopher Reeve that read, “Once you choose hope, anything’s possible.” She captioned the post, “Happy Monday xo.”
