Tennis stars Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic often sport luxury watches of some top brands
Luxury watches have joined hands with the top tennis stars of the planet in a bid to promote their timepieces.
Many of the top watchmakers such as Rolex, Richard Mille and Seiko sponsor some of the biggest stars in tennis. They could often be seen spotting luxury watches not just on the court but off the court also.
They would either be seen flashing their expensive jewellery during prize-winning ceremonies or at events outside that usually help in the promotion of their respective brands.
Let’s now take a look at some of the watch brands used by top stars such as Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and a few others.
Federer has been a long-time brand ambassador of watch manufacturers Rolex, who are from his native Switzerland. He has often been snapped on numerous occasions while lifting trophies with the expensive watch in his hands.
His most significant Rolex watch to date is the Datejust II that he wore after beating Pete Sampras’ all-time Grand Slam record in 2009.
The Swiss star has also been spotted with a GMT-Master II, which has a price tag of around £11,000. Apart from Federer, Canadian Milos Raonic, French Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, and Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov are other tennis stars who don Rolex.
Spaniard Rafael Nadal like Federer prefers a Swiss watchmaker. However, unlike Federer, he uses Richard Mille and has been wearing them since signing a lucrative deal back in 2010.
Nadal could often be seen playing with a Richard Mille on his wrists and was found displaying an RM27-03 model at Wimbledon last year.
Moreover, he is one of the top tennis stars who could be seen donning a watch during play as he is supposed to wear them being a Richard Mille ambassador. The watch carries a lot of features which enable him to wear them during his matches and not affect his game.
Unlike Federer and Nadal, World No.1 Djokovic has not been topping the watch game despite being one of the most recognised faces of the game.
The Serbian recently renewed his contract with watchmakers Seiko until 2020 after signing a £4m-per-year deal with them back in 2014.
His signature is engraved on the case back of the approximately $2,000 watch and just 1,500 pieces are being made. However, despite his big earnings from the sport, he dons a watch that is less valued than the other two from the Big Three category.
Austrian Thiem is also a proponent of Swiss manufacturers Rolex like Federer.
He has mostly been seen donning a ceramic Daytona chronograph with a sleek black dial worth around £14,000. The Austrian also prefers a stainless-steel Submariner, which costs around £9,000.
‘Next Gen’ star Zverev has been endorsed by the Swiss brand since 2016. Nadal was the reason Zverev is donning the Richard Mille after the former suggested him as the future of the game to the big-time watch manufacturers.
Zverev was seen displaying an RM67-02 watch, with a price tag of around £105,000 during a show in Monte Carlo. He is often seen wearing this during his games, matching them with his outfit.
