Finn Balor and Kyle O’Reilly put on quite a show at NXT TakeOver but picked up some injuries too
NXT TakeOver 31 had an incredible main event between Kyle O’Reilly and Finn Balor.
This was for the NXT Championship with Balor coming into the clash as the champion. The Prince faced off against O’Reilly, who was a surprise contender after he won a Gauntlet match.
Doubts might have been cast on O’Reilly’s abilities since he was a tag expert, but he put on an impressive performance as he took Balor to his limit.
It was Balor who got the win in the end after a huge battle. However, both stars were left bloodied after the gruelling encounter.
Balor was left bleeding from the mouth while O’Reilly also picked up a few knocks. WWE confirmed what injuries the two picked up in the main event.
O’Reilly was confirmed to have broken a few teeth and WWE added that he was being evaluated for further injuries.
The champion, Balor, was taken away for CAT scans over the possibility of a facial fracture during the clash.
A match for the ages
NXT TakeOver has a history of putting on some incredible matches, and this one will surely go down as one of the greatest.
These were two men at the top of their games. They left nothing behind in the locker room and it proved that Balor is back to his best.
O’Reilly certainly surprised a few with his performance, and it was a testament to the quality he possesses.
WWE did a great move by pairing them, and it will be interesting to see what is next for them. O’Reilly and Balor shook hands as a mark of respect after the battle too.
There was more concern for O’Reilly’s Undisputed Era as Adam Cole was attacked by Ridge Holland after the match.
The body of the UE leader was dumped by ringside as Bobby Fish and Roderick Strong came out to help Cole out.
