As the previous year has ended, we turn our attention to the future and wonder what Genshin Impact has planned for 2023. In 2022, there were exciting occasions, heartbreaking setbacks, astounding improvements, and several new personalities. Despite numerous unknowns, this article will tell you all you need to know about the new content coming to Genshin Impact in 2023.
Genshin Impact – New Region
This year, players of Genshin Impact will be able to explore Fontaine, the fifth nation in the game’s universe of Teyvat. While the developer, HoYoverse, has not yet released a detailed roadmap for the game’s future, we can make an educated guess about the release schedule by looking at past updates.
In the past, new versions such as Inazuma (including updates 2.0 through 2.8) have been released from July 2021 to July 2022. It is possible that the next version, Sumeru, may follow a similar timeline, but this is not confirmed and the actual release schedule may vary.
Focalors, the Hydro Archon of Fountain, is in charge of the domain, which is ruled by Justice. In addition to being the hub of culture and arts, Fortune is also home to the invention of the Kamera and the beginning of the filmmaking culture, among other artistic developments.
Furthermore, Fontaine is technologically more advanced than most of the other nations we’ve seen so far. Fontaine’s engineers and inventors developed several technologies, including the previously mentioned Kamera, the Mikage Furnace in Inazuma, and the Wisdom Orb during Sumeru’s ‘Fabulous Fungus Frenzy’ event.
In the same way that Inazuma, for example, was inspired by Feudal Japan, Fontaine is also inspired by a real-life civilization. Based on the clothing of the Fontaine NPCs we’ve seen so far, Fontaine appears to be influenced by France during the early 1900’s, or at least a steampunk version of that. It is interesting to note that Fontaine means fountain in French, which is fitting since it is the domain of the Hydro Archon.
Focalors the God of Justice
A new Archon will also be unveiled and made playable with every new nation released. As previously stated, Fontaine is ruled by the Hydro Archon Focalors, also known as the God of Justice. The description of Focalors, including her appearance, is not clear at the moment. According to Dainsleif’s narration in the Teyvat Chapter Storyline Preview: Travail, the God of Justice “lives for the spectacle of courtrooms and strives to judge all other gods.”
It is possible, however, that even Focalors knows not to make enemies of the divine, which may suggest that she is subordinate to Celestia. Nahida told the Traveler that Focalors has the right to influence the final verdict, although she does not directly preside over Fontaine’s trials, at the end of the Sumeru Archon Quest.
Fontaine Characters
There are also Lyney and Lynette we can expect from Fontaine, in addition to Focalors. As in Kamisato Ayaka and Cyno, both of these characters were used as poster characters for Inazuma and Sumeru in the Travail teaser. Lyney and Lynette can be expected to play a prominent role in the Archon Quests of their respective regions, similar to how Ayaka and Cyno did.
Also, many people think that these two characters are really just one playable character since they’re portrayed together in the teaser. A playable character like that would be a great addition to Fontaine. Neuvillette is another figure that might become a playable character.
During the official introduction to Nahida, she was mentioned as the Chief Justice of Fontaine, suggesting she would be a prominent character in the area. We don’t know much more about her other than that. We know that HoYoverse is working on several Fontaine characters they haven’t yet revealed, so we still have a lot to look forward to.
Genshin Impact 2023 Playable Characters
Upon releasing version 3.4 in mid-January 2023, HoYoverse has already confirmed Alhaitham and Yaoyao will appear. Alhaitham and Yaoyao will be the latest additions to the game’s roster of Dendro characters, and Alhaitham is expected to be a 5-star rarity while Yaoyao is expected to be a 4-star rarity. Dehya, Kaveh, and Mika are also expected to be released before Fontaine arrives. You can expect them in versions 3.5 and beyond.
Genshin Impact 2023 Story
In conclusion to the Sumeru Archon Quest storyline, the Traveler has now reached the halfway point of their journey through Teyvat’s seven nations. Although many things have been revealed about the world, the mysteries have only increased.
