The 4 March 2020 episode of AEW Dynamite saw the debut of WWE Hall of Fame star Jake ‘The Snake’ Roberts who had an ominous warning to Cody Rhodes.
Rhodes had come off a tough loss to MJF at Revolution 2020 and was calling out for another fight.
However, it was Roberts who came out and warned Cody that the ‘dark side’ would be coming to AEW soon.
The WWE legend also was unhappy about Cody crying about the loss and added that he has a new client that wants to face the American Nightmare:
“I will be on the outside of the ring when my client faces you, and you can bring that one-trick pony Arn Anderson with you. Oh Caesar, you see I’m not in AEW to take the whole pie—just your share, Cody.”
Roberts also left Cody with a stark message saying that “You never ever turn your back on someone who you respect or who you’re afraid of…”.
However, The Snake did just that and left Cody contemplating what just happened.
Roberts was one of the top stars in WWE and was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014. The 64-year-old was known for coming into the ring with snakes and even used to cause a lot of trauma to his opponents by using the reptiles.
This isn’t the first time Roberts has appeared on a rival promotion. The Hall of Famer spent a few years at WCW, ECW and even TNA.
Roberts returned to WWE in 2005 and was taken out by Randy Orton too. He then made a comeback in 2014, where he was inducted into the Hall of Fame, however, there was more to it.
Roberts wanted to participate in the 2014 Royal Rumble but that did not happen. WWE have made special appearances in the Rumble a normal feature now, and it would have been great if Roberts got one more chance to perform in the ring.
Nevertheless, this is a chance for him to do something great in the new promotion. AEW has been battling with WWE for a while in terms of viewership.
The legend teased that a new wrestler would be coming to face Rhodes. And it will be interesting to see who he has in mind.
