Former MMA Champion Cain Velasquez was released from WWE in 2020. But when did he make his company debut?
Cain Velasquez is widely known for his time in UFC, becoming a two-time UFC Heavyweight Champion. After retiring, he worked for a while on AAA Worldwide wrestling promotion.
On July 19, 2018, it was reported that he was getting trained in the WWE Performance Center under head coach Norman Smiley. Finally, on October 4, 2019, he made his WWE debut on the 20th anniversary of SmackDown Velasquez.
He came out accompanied by Rey Mysterio and confronted Brock Lesnar after his WWE Championship victory as revenge for Lesnar attacking Mysterio and his son. Later, Velasquez will be facing his former MMA rival Lesnar at Crown Jewel for the WWE Championship, which Cain eventually lost.
WWE planned to use Velasquez at their Royal Rumble PPV event, but he suffered an injury and later on April 28, 2020, he was released from his WWE contract due to budget cuts resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cain Velasquez was arrested on Monday after a shooting that wounded a man in the suburbs of South San Jose, according to law-enforcement sources and jail records.
The San Jose Police Department’s media relations initially announced on Twitter that a shooting occurred, with “one adult male shot at least once and transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.”
